Biography
“Sports medicine is a great specialty. We treat active, motivated patients who are trying to recover and return to a high level of activity. The specialty has evolved so much in the years I’ve been practicing.”
Dr. John Hubbard is board certified in general orthopaedics with a certificate of additional qualification in sports medicine. He treats multiple conditions affecting bones and joints, including sports traumas, fractures and tendon ruptures. Additionally, he specializes in shoulder and knee conditions, arthroscopic hip tendon repairs and partial knee replacements.
He remains inspired by the treatments and technologies that are developing. Fixing problems, improving patients’ lives and teaching are his passions.
Dr. Hubbard is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He serves as the director of sports medicine for undergraduate sports teams and the director of the Orthopaedic Physician Assistant Fellowship Program.
His research interests include endoscopic hip tendon repair techniques and outcomes, unicompartmental knee replacements and group projects, including multi-center trials.
Dr. Hubbard received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Richmond. He received his medical degree and completed residency in orthopaedics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Wake Forest University.
He is married with 3 children who participate in sports and community activities. In their free time, Dr. Hubbard and his family enjoy traveling, live music and attending professional basketball and hockey games in new places. They always cheer for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
