Biography

Dr. Files is board certified in pulmonary and critical care medicine with a focus on acute respiratory failure, sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

He is section chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Immunologic Diseases and co-director of the Critical Illness, Injury and Recovery Research Center at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Dr. Files is an associate professor of pulmonary, critical care, allergy and immunologic diseases, and an associate professor of gerontology and geriatric medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society.

Dr. Files received his medical degree at the University of Mississippi. He completed residency in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Johns Hopkins University.

Away from work, he enjoys spending time outdoors.
