Managing individual and institutional conflicts of interest in research, purchasing, clinical care and education is essential to protect the reputations of investigators, individual clinicians, faculty, key officials and the public image and missions of Wake Forest Baptist Health (WFBH).
The institution bases its conflict of interest in research policies on PHS regulation 42 CFR, Part 50, Subpart F and 45 CFR, Part 94, and state regulations. Policies concerning interactions with industry are based on principles that follow ACCME guidelines, AAMC recommendations, federal statutes that govern recipients of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, and other federal and state laws.
The Medical Center Conflict of Interest (COI) Office conducts the collection and review of outside interest disclosures and management of conflicts of interest, and supports the Conflict of Interest Review Committee (CIRC), the Committee on Outside Activities (COA), and the Institutional Conflict of Interest Review Committee (I-CIRC).
