Biography

Dr. Thomas Lycan is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology (cancer and blood disorders). His clinical interests include thoracic (lung) cancer.

In his clinical practice, he provides inpatient coverage on the oncology wards. He enjoys the different aspects of his day-to-day job.

Additionally, Dr. Lycan is an assistant professor of hematology and oncology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He teaches graduate medical education for residents and fellows.

As a researcher, he develops investigator-initiated clinical trials and retrospective analyses on the clinical outcomes of immunotherapy (treating disease by suppressing the immune system).

Dr. Lycan received his degree in osteopathic medicine at Rowan University and a master’s degree in public health at Johns Hopkins University. He completed residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Outside of work, he enjoys cooking food and sports, especially basketball.
