August 2026
Can you guess one of the most preventable types of Cancer? It’s the second most common type of cancer (affecting both men and women) and yet it is one that can usually be prevented by regular screenings. The answer: colorectal cancer. The “bottom” line is this- one in three adults age 50 to 75 has not been tested for colorectal cancer and five to six percent of our population will develop colon cancer in their lifetimes. Attendees of the August AgingWell program will hear from Girish Mishra, MD, Section Chief, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine; Executive Director, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine; and Professor, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine with Wake Forest University School of Medicine on the straight facts on the importance of screening and some obvious, as well as subtle symptoms to discuss with your healthcare provider.
