Finding Hope, Art, and Culinary Delights in Winston Salem:
December 2024
This on-line Series is sponsored by Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Sticht Center for Healthy Aging and Alzheimer’s Prevention and is presented from 5:30-6:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month via Zoom.
With everything going on throughout the world, across our country and right here at home, it can be easy to become overwhelmed, disillusioned, and even fearful because of the growing hatred, evidenced through both speech and actions, directed at others simply because of how they look and/or to whom they pray. We invite you to please join Bishop Sir Walter Mack, Pastor of Union Baptist Church in Winston Salem as he will be sharing the message, “Finding Hope in Changing Times!”. Hear his message of kindness and the simple ways that we ALL can support and indeed lift up our neighbors.
When the weather outside is frightful, there is simply no more delightful place to visit than the Reynolda House Museum of American Art located at 2250 Reynolda Road in Winston Salem, NC. AgingWell attendees are invited to come along with Julia Hood, Manager of School and Family Learning, as she leads us on a guided tour through Reynolda House sharing some of the home’s rich history as well as insights into some of the spectacular artwork, all by American artists, that is featured throughout the museum.
With the cold weather upon us, there is nothing better that a delicious savory meal. This month AgingWell participants will be treated to a cooking demonstration from Matt Bertoni, the new Executive Chef at the Sir Winston Wine Loft and Restaurant located in the Hotel Indigo in downtown Winston Salem. Matt will be showing us how to create his Sticky Soy Ribs and Peanut Ginger Slaw. This recipe is a delightful change of pace from the ordinary! In addition, Bar Manager Sarah Razaiemilson will show us how to create two of their signature winter cocktails- Spiced Rum Old Fashioned and Cinnamon Maple White Russian.
