Thank you for your interest in our ultrasound work.

For over 35 years, the Ward A. Riley Ultrasound Center, in the Department of Neurology, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, has been a leader in research using ultrasound to evaluate intima-media thickness in the carotid artery (CIMT), and performing centralized reading of those studies for multi-center clinical trials. In addition, for 15 years the team offered risk prediction scans to identify risk for cardiovascular disease for individuals, based on data from all prior CIMT research.

Due to a changing landscape with technology, software, and reimbursement, we have made the difficult decision to wrap up our CIMT ultrasound work. As of October 11, 2024, we will no longer be able to offer CIMT risk prediction ultrasound scans as a benefit to teammates. The remainder of the CIMT research program will sunset in July 2025.

We thank everyone who has been involved over the years for their support of this important work.

With gratitude,
The Ward A. Riley Ultrasound Center/IMT Research Team
