Since 1986, Brenner Children’s Hospital has had one goal: to make sure every child gets the best care.

We’ve worked tirelessly over the years - from becoming the Triad region’s first and only children’s hospital to providing expert pediatric specialty care. We have the highest NICU designation possible for our smallest babies, as well as one of the state’s only Level I Children’s Surgery Centers, and have trained generations of health care leaders through Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

We’ll never stop looking for ways to make your child’s care even better. Expand new treatments and innovations: Researchers from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem and Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte are teaming up to explore more ways to discover new treatments for pediatric illnesses and injuries. In 2007, Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital opened its doors in Charlotte, North Carolina. Every year since, it’s been named a Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report. Today, Atrium Health Levine Children’s is more than a hospital - it's a complete network of children’s care that includes pediatrician offices, nationally recognized subspecialty care, emergency departments, urgent cares, virtual care options and more, all just for kids.

In addition to seeing the Atrium Health Levine Children’s brand at Brenner Children’s Hospital, pediatrician offices and pediatric specialty locations, you’ll also have access to a stronger network of care with unique expertise in both research and treatment.

Most pediatric locations across Wake Forest Baptist will take on the Atrium Health Levine Children’s name. This includes Brenner Children’s Hospital, which will now be called Atrium Health Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital, as well as our pediatrician offices, pediatric specialty locations and more.

Is the Brenner Children’s Hospital name going away?

No - it’s here to stay! Brenner Children’s Hospital has been a trusted, treasured name in our community for decades. We’ve simply added Atrium Health Levine Children’s (Atrium Health Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital) as a reminder of everything and everyone your child’s care team is connected to.

Will there be any change to accepted insurance plans, billing, care locations or scheduled appointments?

No. We want to assure you your child’s current care is not changing. We’ll continue to follow the same processes for billing and appointments that you’re used to, and our accepted insurance plans and care locations will also stay the same.

How does Wake Forest University School of Medicine work with Atrium Health Levine Children’s?

Wake Forest University School of Medicine is the academic core of Advocate Health, of which Atrium Health is a part. The School of Medicine will continue to educate and train the next generation of pediatric physicians and researchers. As part of an academic health system, Atrium Health Levine Children’s will also have access to the latest in research and innovation to better care for our pediatric patients and families.
