Pink Ribbon Program
Pink Ribbon Program 2024
Relive the 22nd annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon, May 1, 2024.
Speaker 1
I am just so excited that you are here for our 22nd Pink Ribbon Luncheon, for 22 years.
Speaker 2
As part of Atrium Health, we embrace the mission to improve health, elevate hope, and advance healing for all.
Speaker 3
I see so many faces that I see every year when I stand up here, and it means so much to all of us that are involved in the Pink Ribbon, to know that you want to come back every year.
Speaker 4
The people who are responsible for this event, the people who are responsible for what we are able to do at the hospital and at the Hayworth Cancer Center, is you. Because at the end of the day, it's your support and your continuing commitment to us that allows us to do what we can do. The Hayworth Cancer Center is the crown jewel of High Point Medical Center and realistically, one of the crown jewels of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist as well.
Speaker 5
How many people think that humor is important for stress management? Okay, my job's finished. Thank you. Our stress levels are affected by how much time we spend anxious, tense, and nervous, which is the opposite of keeping our sense of humor, maintaining a spirit of optimism, and being in that calm, serene place.
Speaker 6
I'm so humbled to see each of you here today, and we're truly grateful for your support of Hayworth Cancer Center, and we're already excited for next year.
The Pink Ribbon Program enhances the lives of women and men served by the High Point Medical Center’s Hayworth Cancer Center through knowledge, service and hope by offering support, education and compassionate care.
In addition to the Pink Ribbon Comfort Bags, the proceeds from Pink Ribbon Fund provide funding for CancerFitt, a 12- week fitness program and support group to help fight fatigue during treatment. The Pink Ribbon Program provides support for education in the Cancer Resource Center Library and education support for the Hayworth Cancer Center staff and patients.
Pink Ribbon Comfort Bag items:
- A fleece blanket to be used to warm patients as they receive their chemotherapy treatments
- A Pink Ribbon food journal to keep track of specialized diets and nutritional requirements
- An embroidered satin pillowcase for comfort
- Personal care and hygiene products
- A thermometer to keep track of mandatory temperature readings throughout treatment
The Pink Pony Mammogram Program provides financial support for low-income, uninsured women to receive funded mammograms and other breast health services. Our community, like many others, is in desperate need of health care services for those who cannot afford to pay. In 2015, over $10,300 was given to provide mammograms to uninsured women in our community from the Pink Pony Mammogram Fund.
CancerFitt is an exercise program with evidence-based exercise intervention for cancer survivors to enhance quality of life, reduce recurrence and other diseases, manage and reduce cancer related fatigue and extend survival. This free 12 week program provides cancer survivors with an individualized exercise plan and weekly educational topics.
