MRI scans are conducted only with a doctor's order, so if your doctor tells you that you need an MRI, remember to ask for your appointment to be made at High Point Medical Center.
Though there are many imaging techniques, CT imaging has the unique ability to offer clear images of diverse types of tissue. CT imaging can provide views of soft tissue, bone, muscle and blood vessels without forfeiting clarity. All of these are extremely important when diagnosing different pathological processes.
All screenings and tests are performed by one of our mammography registered radiologic technologists. X-rays and exams are then read by a board-certified radiologist.
Many women do not realize that you can choose who performs your mammogram. In North Carolina, it is not necessary to have a physician refer you.
Interventional radiologists, technologists and nurses are involved in the treatment of the patient, as well as the diagnosis of disease. They treat an ever-widening range of conditions from outside the body by inserting various small catheters or wires, with the use of various imaging techniques (i.e. CT scanners, Fluoro, ultrasound scanners). Interventional radiology offers an alternative to the surgical treatment of many conditions and can eliminate the need for hospitalization, in some cases. Interventional radiologists work closely with other physicians and play an important role on the treatment team.
Interventional radiologists perform a variety of procedures such as tissue biopsy, abscess drainage and placement of IV lines and dialysis catheters. The interventional radiology team also performs other procedures such as kyphoplasty, tumor ablation, gastrostomy tube, nephrostomy and biliary catheter placements.
