Lexington Medical Center Receives Leapfrog Grade "A" - Fall 2021
Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center Medical Center was awarded an 'A' in the Fall 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing the medical center's achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. This is the medical center's fifth consecutive "A" grade. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization driven by employers and other purchasers of health care committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D' or 'F' grade to all general hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.
LMC Receives CMS 4-Star Hospital Rating - April 2021
In April 2021, the Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services (CMS) release a list of star-ratings for hospitals on the Care Compare website, providing consumers with a snapshot of a hospital’s quality. The Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center received a 4-Star rating based on the 5-Star Scale.
CMS compiles the star ratings by assessing hospitals in five sets of quality measures: mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience, and timeliness and effectiveness of care. Hospitals report their own data and are eligible to receive a rating if they report at least three measures in each of three or more measure groups, including either mortality or safety of care.
The star ratings reflect a hospital’s performance on those measures relative to other U.S. hospitals in a “peer group,” which is based on the number of measure sets in which a hospital reports enough data to be scored.
Wound Care Center – Lexington Receives Award - Spring 2021
Wake Forest Baptist Health Wound Care Center – Lexington received Healogics’ "Center of Distinction" award for 2020. The center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for the entire 12 consecutive months of 2020. Metrics for the award included a patient satisfaction score higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92 percent within 28 median days to heal.
The Joint Commission Accreditation – February 2020
Lexington Medical Center is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). By demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety, Lexington Medical Center has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval. Lexington Medical Center Places Top 10 in Vizient, Inc.’s Quality and Accountability Study – Fall 2019
For 4 consecutive years, Lexington Medical Center has been among the top-performing community hospitals from across the country to take national honors as a recipient of Vizient Inc.’s 2017 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award. The award is presented to community hospitals and academic medical centers that are Vizient members and demonstrate superior quality and safety performance as measured by the annual Vizient Quality and Accountability Study. For 2018 and 2019, LMC ranked in the top 10 among 161 elite community hospitals.
Lexington Medical Center Sleep Center Receives Program Accreditation – June 2019
Lexington Medical Center Sleep Center received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). To receive accreditation for a five-year period, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. These standards address core areas such as personnel, facility and equipment, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care, and quality assurance. Additionally, the sleep center’s goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is a professional medical society for clinicians, researchers, and other health care providers in the field of sleep medicine. As the national accrediting body for sleep disorders centers, the AASM improves sleep health and promotes high quality, patient-centered care through advocacy, education, strategic research, and practice standards.
Wound Care Center – Lexington: World-Class Care
For 4 straight years, Wound Care Center – Lexington has won national recognition from Healogics Inc., which manages 800 wound care centers in 46 states. The center treats patients for diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time.
Lexington Medical Center: Accreditation for Ultrasound Programs
Lexington Medical Center’s ultrasound team owns a triple crown of accreditation:
- Vascular Ultrasound and Echocardiogram Ultrasound programs – both accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC)
- General Ultrasound program – accredited by the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine
Each week, 30 to 40 vascular ultrasound procedures, 30 to 40 echocardiograms and 150 general ultrasounds are performed at Lexington Medical Center.
