Jacob Freeman

Jacob "Jake" Freeman, DNP, MBA, RN is the Campus Administrator and Chief Nursing Officer at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center.

For the past 15 years, Jake has dedicated himself to developing a patient- and family-centered model of care that ensures safety, effectiveness, and meaningful outcomes. He is passionate about identifying and nurturing leaders, as well as forming teams that drive cultural change, ultimately enhancing patient and family experiences and achieving high-quality outcomes.

Most recently, Jake served as the Administrative Director of Nursing at UNC Health – Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC. His previous positions include Senior Nursing Leader and Administrative Director of Patient Care Services at Bon Secours Mercy Health – DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, VA. Prior to that, he was the Nurse Manager of surgical inpatient nursing at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio, overseeing surgical intensive care, surgical step-down, and general surgical care.

Jake earned his Associate's Degree in Nursing from Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio, followed by a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. He then obtained two master’s degrees: a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Administration and a Master of Business Administration with a focus on Leadership, both from Capital University in Bexley, Ohio. In 2021, he completed his Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA focusing on Executive Nursing Leadership.

When Jake is not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer, and their three children: Ollie, Lucy, and Julia. In his spare time, Jake enjoys exploring local restaurants, cooking, and attending his children’s athletic events, as well as traveling.
