Wayfinder App

A software program for smartphones or tablets that can provide indoor navigation of select Wake Forest Baptist Health facilities. The app also provides parking reminders, destination details and home-to-hospital directions through Google Maps or Apple Maps.

Search for “WakeHealth-Wayfinder” to download the app. It’s available as a free download for Apple devices at the Apple App Store or Android devices at Google Play.

The app will be available first for the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center campus and Medical Plaza – Miller in Winston-Salem, Lexington Medical Center and Davie Medical Center.

There are multiple ways to search for a location. You can click on an icon, search the location directory on the home page, or search Points of Interest on the map screen. See “How do I use the app?” below.

First, open the app and Select a Location:

• Davie Medical Center
• Lexington Medical Center
• Medical Plaza – Miller (Winston-Salem campus)
• Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (Winston-Salem campus)

Then, choose a Feature:

•  Hospital Map (the app determines your location and displays nearby points of interest)
  • Choose Filter to display by type (ATM, Café, Elevator, Restroom, etc.).
  • Search locations using the search bar or tap the top right list icon to display an alphabetical list.
  • Choose location and tap Route (new screen appears).
  • If you are located outside the facility, you will be asked Route to Facility? Choose Route Me for driving, walking or transit directions from your location, then select Go.
  • When you are located within the facility, confirm your Start and End locations (app will display your route as a blue line).

  • Select a location (new screen displays photo and options)
  • Tap Route or Map (new screen displays Start and End parameters)
• Parking Reminder (new screen displays four choices)
  
  • Pin GPS Location (uses your device’s location service to pin it to facility map)
  • Take a Picture (to take a photo of your parked vehicle and/or nearby parking locator signs)
  • Record a Memo (to record a spoken description of where you parked)
  • Write a Note (displays a blank text screen and keypad to type a memo)
• About the Hospital (displays a short description about the facility currently selected)

Blue dot navigation does not begin until you enter the facility. All other app functions will work in the parking garage, including Parking Reminders.

No, the app will not reroute if you go off path. To change the original route, cancel the current route and selection the final location.

Yes, the app will work in any location that has a Wi-Fi signal or cellular coverage. The primary use of the app outside of a Wake Forest Baptist Health facility is to preplan your visit and launch Google Maps or Apple Maps to your destination. Indoor navigation begins after you enter the facility.
