Biography

I am a board-certified General Surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. I previously served as the Medical Director for Robotic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, Florence Medical Center. I am excited to bring my expertise in the field of robotic surgery to the team at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center.

I am an active member of the American Hernia Society and received additional training in advanced hernia surgery, with a focus on abdominal wall reconstruction for primary and recurrent hernias employing both open and robotic surgical techniques. My clinical interests extend to emergency general surgery, robotic cholecystectomy (gallbladder surgery), feeding access procedures, and robotic surgery for diverticular disease including the NICE procedure (Natural Orifice Intracorporeal Anastomosis with extraction) as well as robotic colostomy reversal.

In addition to my clinical practice, I am committed to advancing the field of minimally invasive surgery through education and mentorship. I am actively involved in training surgeons across the country on the use of the DaVinci Xi Robotic System for both elective and emergency general surgery procedures, ensuring that the latest surgical techniques are widely disseminated to help improve patient outcomes.

Originally from Ontario, Canada, I earned my medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. I completed my General Surgery internship and residency at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, followed by fellowship in the Mastery of General Surgery program at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC.

My patient care philosophy centers around attention to detail while placing the patient and their support system first. My goal is to develop a positive provider-patient relationship built on trust. I believe each patient is unique and their clinical needs should be carefully considered before, during and following any surgical procedure. I also encourage all treatment modalities to be explored whether surgical or non-surgical.

With close family ties to the area, me, my wife and three children are thrilled to return home, and I am looking forward to the privilege of serving the community in High Point along with the surrounding Triad area.
