Biography
My clinical research focuses on developing non-medication treatments for older adults with chronic pain. I have received three grants from the National Institutes of Health to support this research. I currently serve as the Associate Editor for Pain Medicine journal, Section on Pain & Aging.
Throughout my career, I have sought to use medicine as a conduit for justice and equity through my clinical work, teaching, clinical research focused on vulnerable populations, and community engagement. I received the 2019 Wake Forest Baptist Health Inclusion Award for developing and implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives in the Department of Anesthesiology and across the institution. I serve as the Justice Thread Director for the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Effective July 2021, I will serve as the Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Department of Anesthesiology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.
