I am a Professor of Pediatrics and a general pediatrician. I joined Wake Forest Baptist Health in 2020 with 30 years of clinical and research experience under my belt. I received my MD degree from Stanford University where I also studied the application of computers to medical care. I studied pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I practiced and conducted research on how to improve the care of children - especially with the help of computers. In 2001, I moved to Indiana University to lead their general pediatrics division and to start a research program there. After 19 years in Indy, I returned to North Carolina to join the stellar team at Wake Forest School of Medicine.
I continue to practice pediatrics with medical students and residents in the Downtown Health Plaza. I love seeing children and their families as they are cared for by these brilliant young physicians and physicians in training. My research remains active and I am especially interested in how our health systems can be set up to optimize the health and wellbeing of children.
