Biography

“I believe in working to serve the community around me. I want to not only relieve pain and restore function to my patients through both operative and non-operative modalities, but I want to train the next generation of surgeons to treat patients with compassion and technical excellence.”

Dr. Molly Hartzler is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. Conditions she treats include arthritis of the hip and knee and complications related to hip and knee reconstructive surgeries, including dislocations, fractures and infections.

She chose to focus on adult reconstruction because surgery tremendously impacts the patients by relieving hip and knee pain and restoring function.

Dr. Hartzler is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She is involved in clinical research related to hip and knee reconstructive surgery.

She received her bachelor’s degree in biology and her medical degree at The University of Texas. She completed residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic and a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at OrthoCarolina.

Dr. Hartzler spends most of her time away from work with her husband and children. They like playing outdoors, swimming in the neighborhood pool and cuddling up and watching movies indoors. She loves to draw, paint and try new artistic media. She also enjoys cooking, baking and reading mystery and suspense novels.
