Biography

Being trained in general surgery and vascular medicine, I bring more than 35 years of experience treating patients with complex vascular (circulatory) problems in general, and peripheral (non-cardiac) vascular in particular. I have developed a unique overarching expertise which compliments well the ones of my colleagues, vascular surgeons and cardiologists. Decades of clinical research resulted in more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, hundreds of educational and other academic activities reaching out to local, national, and international audiences.

During my entire career I have been associated with various academic institutions and on faculty at Wake Forest Baptist Health for the past 23 years, where I serve as a Professor of Surgery. I have been instrumental in establishing the only Section on Vascular Medicine and Hypertension incorporated within the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery in the southeast. The list of medical conditions treated is vast and growing (including extending care to a select pediatric patients; younger patients with premature atherosclerotic and non-atherosclerotic disease; diverse group of patients with autonomic dysfunction). Our expertise in venous disease and thrombosis is one of a kind. My MO is to make a difference when given an opportunity.
