Biography

“I have a passion for working with children and the unique opportunity to make a significant impact on their lives. Collaborating with families to improve a child's function and quality of life is incredibly fulfilling. Pediatric patients often respond well to treatment, and seeing them recover and thrive is a source of great motivation.”

Dr. Alejandro Marquez-Lara is an orthopaedic surgeon who focuses on pediatric orthopaedics. He is the director of the J.B. Snow Biomechanics Laboratory at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

He appreciates combining the challenges of treating musculoskeletal disorders with the reward of helping young patients achieve their developmental milestones and active lifestyles. He values the ongoing advancements in technology and techniques in the field and is excited to be part of a specialty that continually evolves and employs innovative approaches to care.

Dr. Marquez-Lara received his medical degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas. He completed residency in orthopaedic surgery at Wake Forest University and a pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

In his leisure time, Dr. Marquez-Lara enjoys cooking, hiking, playing basketball, learning about the microbiome and spending time with his wife and 2 children.
