Biography
Dr. Randall McCafferty is a nationally recognized, academically respected and clinically established surgeon. He is the director of neurosurgical services at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center. He is board certified in neurological surgery and is widely considered a subject-matter expert on spinal cord injuries and brain traumas.
Dr. McCafferty is the author of numerous neurosurgery publications for best practices and has taught extensively both in the U.S. and internationally. Based on his combined robust, successful military and civilian clinical care experiences, he continues to achieve extremely high patient satisfaction and quality outcomes in spine and cranial care.
Born and raised in Southern California, he attended the United States Air Force Academy, graduated from the Uniformed Services University and completed his neurosurgical residency at Northwestern University, followed by a spine fellowship at Emory University.
After serving 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, he retired as a colonel in 2019. He served on multiple military and humanitarian deployments and received the Air Force “Surgeon of the Year” award for distinction in clinical care.
Dr. McCafferty met his wife while in medical school, and they have been married for more than 30 years. In their leisure time, they enjoy the outdoors and traveling to visit their 4 daughters.
