Biography

“I enjoy practicing orthopaedics because there are many opportunities to improve the conditions I treat and help return patients to their activities.”

Dr. Gary Poehling is board certified in orthopaedics. He focuses on sports medicine, arthritis and treating conditions of the knee and shoulder.

In his clinical practice, he is inspired by the paradigm shift that cellular biology brings to the treatment of orthopaedic conditions.

Dr. Poehling is a professor at Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and a professor of orthopaedic surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

His research interests include arthroscopy development, cellular treatment for osteoarthritis and robotic and knee surgery.

Dr. Poehling received his bachelor’s degree at Marquette University and his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed residency in orthopaedics at Duke University.

Away from work, he enjoys gardening, tennis and spending time with his family.
