Biography

Dr. T.K. Pandian is board certified in general surgery. He specializes in endocrine surgery with a focus on the surgical treatment of diseases involving the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. His expertise includes robotic adrenal surgery.

Growing up in a family that valued service and helping people, he especially looked up to his older brother, who is a physician. Dr. Pandian chose to focus on academic surgery, which allows him to take excellent care of patients and provides him the opportunity to teach and train the next generation of physicians and surgeons.

He is an assistant professor of surgery in the Section of Surgical Oncology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Prior to his move to North Carolina, he was an endocrine surgeon at Washington University in St. Louis.

His research focuses on improving surgical treatment of endocrine diseases, as well as patient safety and quality. He has written several textbook chapters and has contributed to more than 40 journals and publications.

Dr. Pandian received a master’s degree in public health (MPH) at Johns Hopkins University. He received his medical degree at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine & Science, where he also completed residency in general surgery. He completed a fellowship in endocrine surgery at Harvard University.

Dr. Pandian is married to a pediatric ICU nurse, and they have a son who loves anything and everything about trains. They enjoy traveling, checking out Carolina cuisine, exploring state parks and spending time with family located across the U.S. Closer to home, Dr. Pandian likes reading and binge-watching TV shows.
