Biography

After obtaining my medical degree in 2004, I completed my general surgery internship and neurosurgical training at Wake Forest Baptist Health. I have practiced general neurosurgery with a focus on spinal surgery in both the private practice and academic settings. Prior to returning to join the Wake Forest Baptist Faculty, I lead as Chair of the department of neurosurgery at Harbin Clinic and President of the medical staff at Redmond Regional Medical Center. During this time I also served as medical director in the development of two Joint Commission accredited spine surgery centers. I was excited to rejoin Wake Forest Baptist in 2018 to further focus on delivering quality spine care to the Piedmont Triad region through the growing Wake Forest Baptist medical network.

As a neurosurgeon with sub specialization in spinal surgery, the majority of my practice focuses on the treatment of serious spinal conditions like cervical and lumbar herniated discs, cervical myelopathy, radiculopathy, sciatica, stenosis, and spondylolisthesis. To treat these structural issues I utilize a wide variety of spinal procedures. I believe that non-surgical treatment should be sought whenever possible. When a surgical procedure is needed, the choice of treatment is tailored to each individual patient. In the end, the goal of every procedure is to improve a patient's quality of life with the least amount of risk possible.
