Biography

I am an otologist, neurotologist, and skull base surgeon – which is to say I specialize in treatment of the ear, hearing, balance, and the facial nerve. I manage disorders that range from the outer ear, to the ear drum and middle ear ossicles, to tumors of the inner ear or nerves leading to the brainstem. I attended the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and Georgetown University School of Medicine, where I earned a Master of Science Degree in addition to my Medical Degree. I completed my residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford University followed by a two-year fellowship in Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery at the Michigan Ear Institute. I was drawn to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist due to the collaborative team-oriented environment and the ability to provide the best, cutting-edge and innovate treatments for my patients.

My clinical interests include the management of acoustic neuromas/vestibular schwannomas, glomus tumors, and other tumors of the cerebellopontine angle and lateral skull base; the surgical management of superior semicircular canal dehiscence and cerebrospinal fluid leaks; the treatment of otosclerosis; the medical and surgical management of Ménière's disease; and the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss, including cochlear implantation. My clinical practice also encompasses the treatment of diseases of the middle ear, including surgery for tympanic membrane perforations, the ossicular chain, chronic otitis media, and cholesteatoma.

My approach with every patient is to treat them like family – with respect and empathy – to understand how I can best help them achieve their desired goals. The ear is an incredibly complex and intricate organ, and diseases of the ear can be debilitating. My goal is to help each patient understand what is going on in their ear and how we can work together to address it.

My research interests are focused on clinical outcomes measures, health care utilization, quality improvement, and medical education.
