Biography

I care for children in the pediatric intensive care unit, the pediatric sedation suite, and for both adults and children in my role as the director of the Malignant Hyperthermia Diagnostic Center.

In the sedation suite, I provide anesthesia to help children safely and comfortably undergo procedures. In the intensive care unit, I work with a team of specialized pediatric providers from multiple disciplines to care for children who are seriously ill, injured, or who have undergone major surgery. The focus of our team is not just to reverse or treat disease, but rather to put children on a footing to thrive. To this end, I research the long-term outcomes of children who experience critical illness and how we can better understand and optimize recovery.

I have been lucky to train at world-class institutions, but raising my own three children has been equally influential in how I practice. A parent entrusting you with the care of their child is no small thing and I often tell parents "For the next little bit, I get to share your job! I'll care for them like they're one of mine."
