Biography

I completed neurosurgery residency at Wake Forest Baptist in 2013 and then took a general neurosurgery private practice job in Rapid City, South Dakota near family. This was a great experience, and I learned a lot about neurosurgery that is not traditionally taught in residency. I built a great practice in SD, but something was missing. I started to look for other opportunities that would allow me to teach and further focus my surgical practice.

The opportunity arose to return to Wake Forest Baptist in 2017. My surgical/research practice is focused on spinal surgery, specifically adult deformity and minimally invasive approaches. I utilize the latest in image guidance, exoscope (video microscope) technology and robotics to perform surgery. I actively publish on topics involving minimally invasive spine surgery and associated outcomes.  I strive to optimize integration of these new technologies in the operating room to enhance patient care/outcomes and train the next generation of neurosurgeons.
