Senior practicum preceptorships are clinical experiences in which senior-level nursing students work one-on-one with a staff RN preceptor. These experiences typically require around 120 or more clinical hours to be completed just prior to graduation from the nursing program.
Preceptorship experiences are a collaborative effort between the Nurse Affiliate Office and the school’s clinical coordinator.
If you are a student interested in completing a senior practicum preceptorship at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, please connect with your program’s clinical coordinator. They can answer any questions you may have about the process.
Preceptorship Placement Process
- School clinical coordinators send in initial preceptorship requests to NurseAffiliate@wakehealth.edu on the Preceptorship Request Form.
- The Nurse Affiliate Office will assign all placements and email final placements to each school.
- School clinical coordinators must let the Nurse Affiliate Office know ASAP if they do not plan to use one or more of the offered placements.
- School clinical coordinators enter requests for all placements they plan to use in mCE.
- Nurse Affiliate Office approves requests.
