Surgical Pathology is a division of Anatomic pathology and is a medical specialty focusing on the diagnosis of disease based on the macroscopic, microscopic, biochemical, immunologic and molecular examination of tissue.
Surgical Pathology focuses on the processing, examination, and diagnosis of surgical specimens (organ resections or tissue biopsies) by a surgical pathologist. In step with modernization of care and to support advanced clinical care and research, our division has moved toward a subspecialty pathology-based model led by surgical pathologists with subspecialty fellowship training.
