Physicians who specialize in sleep medicine are trained in the clinical assessment, polysomnographic evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.
Sleep disorders affect people of all ages and can appear as a temporary childhood problem like night terrors or develop into a life threatening illness like apnea.
Many people suffer from insomnia or delayed sleep phase syndrome (difficulty falling asleep and waking up at the right time). And lack of sleep takes a toll on your overall health. Insufficient sleep is associated with the onset of various chronic diseases and conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and depression.
Learn more about sleep, why it’s important, and tips to help you fall asleep and stay asleep.
