Maggie Crater is a stay-at-home mom who’s been overweight her entire adult life. After her youngest child was born, she developed health problems, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma and pre-diabetes. “I started to fear that I would not live long enough to see my children graduate from high school, and I told my husband that I can’t live like this anymore,” she said. Maggie was referred to Dr. Adolfo ("Fuzz") Fernandez and was “sold from the beginning.” She had the Roux-en-Y procedure at Wake Forest Baptist Health and lost 158 pounds after two years. Maggie loved how Amber Norris, the weight-loss program’s dietitian, worked with her through each phase of the program so that she wasn’t overwhelmed. She would “do it all over again without hesitation.”
