Breast Augmentation: What to Expect
Our surgeons first evaluate each patient’s breast anatomy, elasticity, and goals, in order to arrive at the best, tailored approach for augmentation.
Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure that’s performed under general anesthesia. Breast implants can be filled with saline or silicone, and they come in a variety of sizes, projections and shapes.
Incisions for the placement of implants may be in the fold of the breast, around the areola or in the armpit.
In some cases, a breast lift may be needed as well, to correct sagging breasts.
Patients may experience swelling and bruising, and a compression bra should be worn after surgery. Most patients can resume their normal activities within a few days.
