Key qualifications for volunteers are teamwork, pleasant dispositions, compassionate and caring attitudes and respect for patient confidentiality.
The diversity of our services and projects allows volunteers the opportunity to select placements that best suit their interests and schedules. Whether you are a retiree, a career professional, a high school student or homemaker, High Point Medical Center has a volunteer opportunity for you.

Groups and Special Projects
At High Point Medical Center, our patients and visitors benefit from the services that groups and individuals provide on either a one time or ongoing basis. Contact Volunteer Services and request more information about how to help in one of these ways.
Sewing Projects
Baby caps and blankets, prayer shawls, walker bags and cancer caps are some of the sewing projects our volunteers lovingly make for our patients.
Snack/Item Donations
Individuals, churches and civic groups donate individually wrapped snacks for our waiting areas. Toiletries and entertainment items, such as puzzle books, are donated for our patients and visitors.
Hilda Fountain Award
A distinguished award for volunteers was created and named in honor of Hilda Fountain, who retired from volunteering at the age of 102. Her dedication to service and her positive outlook throughout her entire life (1908-2012) are just a few of the reasons why this award was created.
Recipients of this award are volunteers who are an inspiration to others, a role model to their hospital community and individuals whose service is set apart by attributes such as kindness, compassion and humility.
These volunteers exemplify the aspects of service excellence, model compassionate and professional behavior, and are a positive reflection of High Point Medical Center here within the hospital and in their community.
This commitment to service excellence will keep the Hilda Fountain name at the forefront of each annual ceremony in perpetuity.
You are encouraged to consider a volunteer who exhibits the qualities represented by the Hilda Fountain Award. Complete the application - Hilda Fountain 2019.
